Eid-ul Fitr 2020 will be on Sunday the 24th of May

Assalamualaikum,

*Eid-ul Fitr 2020 will be on Sunday the 24th of May*

We make duaa that Allah SWA accepts our good deeds of Ramadhan and he grants a joyous and spiritual day of Eid to Muslims around the globe. (Ameen)

The Masjid will remain closed to the public due to the lockdown and there will be no Eid Jamaat in the park this year. Eid Jamaat should be offered according to Islamic guidance at home, workplace or elsewhere. Please ensure that you comply with the lockdown regulations at all times, pay the Sadaqatul Fitr via a reputable charity before Eid Salah time and observe the Sunnahs of Eid day.

The Eid Salah will be offered by a few key workers in the Masjid in accordance with the law. To help make this day special for everyone, Worthing Masjid will be broadcasting the Eid service live via its Masjid Facebook page:

https://m.facebook.com/WorthingMasjid/?locale2=en_GB

The timings for this are as follows:

9.30am: English Bayan (Speech)
9.50am: Eid Salah (Do not follow from home. Please offer separately following the Islamic Guidance)
10.00am: Arabic Khutbah

Please observe all the etiquetes of Eid before 9.30am and thereafter join us to listen to the speech.

I know many people have questions regarding the fiqh of offering Eid Salah at home. To find the answer I would advise that you read the following portal endorsed by senior scholars around the U.K.

Covid-19: Eid Salah during lockdown

Everyone is requested to maintain respect for the various positions of scholars in this regard, and supplicate to Allah Almighty to protect us all and remove this calamity, so we can perform Ṣalah in the Masjids as soon as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if any of your questions remain unanswered.

Finally on behalf of everyone at Worthing Masjid, I make duaa that you have an extremely profitable end to the month of Ramadhan as well as a joyous and spiritually uplifting day of Eid. (Ameen)

Guidance from Worthing Masjid regarding Eid Salah and information about its Facebook live broadcast.

*Guidance from Worthing Masjid regarding Eid Salah and information about its Facebook live broadcast.*

Assalamualaikum,

Dear Brothers and Sisters.

I make duaa that you are well and are trying to make the most of the remaining days of the month of Ramadan.

Every second of this blessed month is precious, therefore it is vital that we spend as much time as possible therein engaging in Worship and making Duaa to Allah SWA.

However, with Eid fast approaching, (Saturday or Sunday depending on the sighting of the moon) this message will In Sha Allah advise you about what to do on this special day.

Even though we are unable to offer Eid Salah in congregation due to the lockdown, it is still vitally important that we observe all the other guidance in Shariah and we try to make this day as special as possible.

*General advice*

Ṣadaqat al-Fiṭr should be donated in advance of Eid day via a reputable charity so that it reaches the poor by Eid day. The Prophet ﷺ prescribed it as purification of the fasting from idle talk and obscenities and also as food for the poor (Sunan Abī Dāwūd, 1609).

Eid is a great blessing of Allah Almighty.

It is therefore important to adopt the Sunnah practices of Eid even if one does not perform Eid Ṣalāh, expressing his gratitude to Allah Almighty and marking the occasion of happiness and joy.

1) Performing Fajr Ṣalāh in congregation at home.

2) Undertaking Ghusl (bath) before Eid Ṣalāh (or the Nafl Ṣalāh) and using the Miswak.

3) Applying perfume.

4) Wearing the best clothes available, it is not necessary to go shopping to purchase new clothes.

5) Eating dates or something sweet before Eid Ṣalāh (or the Nafl Ṣalāh).

6) Reciting Takbīr in abundance.

7) Congratulating others in person and over the phone by saying تَقَبَّلَّ اللهُ مِنَّا وَمِنْكَ (may Allah accept [the worship] from us and you) (al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr, 1:116; al-Thiqāt, 9:90; al-Duʿāʾ, p.288; al-Sunan al-Kubrā, 3:446).

8) Donating charity and keeping the poor and vulnerable in mind.

To help make this day special, Worthing Masjid will be broadcasting the Eid service live via its Masjid Facebook page:

Message regarding donations

Assalamualaikum,

Dear brothers and sisters,

I am writing to inform you that Worthing Masjid is no longer collecting funds to provide Iftar for vulnerable members of our community. We believe that we now have sufficient funds for this purpose.

I would like to thank all those who made a donation and assisted in delivery. (Jazak Allah) I have been overwhelmed by your generosity. May Allah reward you in this world and the hereafter.

(Ameen)

Donations to our general masjid fund are still being received gratefully. If you had intended to donate you may wish to make a general donation instead. The Masjid has many overheads and due to the current circumstances, it is unable to collect from the congregation.

May Allah reward you for your generosity.

Message from Worthing Masjid on the eve of Ramadhan

*(Message from Worthing Masjid on the eve of Ramadhan)*

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh.

Saudi Moonsighting Authorities have confirmed that Ramadhan 2020 will begin on Friday the 24th of April. This means that the first taraweeh salah should be offered after Isha Salah tonight. (Thursday the 23rd).

The Ramadhan timetable can be downloaded from the Masjid website: (www.worthingmasjid.com) or from the Worthing Masjid facebook page.

Due to Corvid 19, the Masjid will remain closed and all activities therein will remain suspended until further notice.

However, this should not prevent us from making the most of this blessed month.

Regardless of whether the current pandemic is a trial or punishment, the solution to this crisis, undoubtedly lies in sincere repentance and making duaa. Ramadhan is the Month of Allah’s forgiveness and mercy.

We should spend as much time as possible during this blessed month, fasting, reciting the Holy Quran, worshipping Allah سبحانه وتعالى in abundance and serving humanity. In all circumstances we must try to abstain from the disobedience of Allah سبحانه وتعالى which is the primary reason for adverse conditions.

We should also use this opportunity to increase our knowledge of Islam and improve our recitation of the Holy Quran. Alhamdulillah, modern technology provides us with many ways to do this.

In Shaa Allah all of the above will bring much needed Noor ( light) and guidance into our homes.
A believer looks for opportunities and positives in every condition.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Masjid if you or anyone you know require any assistance due to the lockdown. This includes assistance with Suhoor and Iftar meals. (We are always happy to help)

Finally, I pray that Allah SWA grants all of us the most spiritually uplifting and blessed month of Ramadhan. I also pray that Allah S.W.A showers his mercy and forgiveness upon us so we can open the doors of his house to pray and break fast together again very soon. (Ameen)

22nd March 2020 *Suspension of Activities at Worthing Masjid in Response to Covid-19.*

*Suspension of Activities at Worthing Masjid in Response to Covid-19.*

Due to the severity of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and its risk to public health, it is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that we have no option but to immediately suspend all activities at Worthing Masjid until further notice, starting after Isha prayers tonight. (22/03/2020) This decision is the result of an internal consultation and follows advice and guidance
from esteemed healthcare professionals, the Government, and other Masjids and Islamic organisations.

Worthing Masjid shall immediately suspend:

• congregational five daily prayers;
• congregational Jummuah prayers; and
• programmes, events and talks.

The Imams will give the adhaan, pray 5 times daily salaah and engage in aamals to protect the sanctity of the Masjid.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. We urge you to take all necessary precautions to stop the
spread of the virus. We shall continuously review the decision and update you accordingly. We encourage you
to continue your daily prayers and routines from home, engage in dua, recitation of the Quran, istigfar and
durood.

We pray that Allah, the Most Merciful, showers us with His infinite mercy and grants relief, protection and ease
to all of humanity in these testing times.

We will continue to keep our community regularly updated by way of our home transmitter, website (www.worthingmasjid.co.uk) and Facebook page.
