Late Friday evening, 8^th Sept will be remembered by many Moroccans as a deadly and life-changing evening, as a magnitude 6.8 earthquake brought devastation to the country’s Marrakesh-Safi region. As of Monday 11^th September, casualty statistics read over 2,000 dead with nearly 3,000 people injured… more than half critically hurt. 

The damage from the quake has been devastating. Homes and portions of the city wall in the nation’s capital, Marrakesh have collapsed, leaving families trapped beneath the debris.

Nearby towns in rural areas have borne the brunt of the earthquake’s destructive terror. The towns of Tafeghaghte, Adassil and Imil have been severely decimated, with casualty figures rising by the day. In the remote rural areas, the full picture has yet to present itself as many these communities have been cut off due to landslides leaving huge piles of debris, leaving access routes for emergency services impassable. 

This is an emergency of immense proportions. The people of Morocco need our help and they need it now.

A collection will be held at Worthing Masjid on Friday 15th September 2023. All monies donated will be delivered to Human Relief Foundation who are working with their partners on the ground right now, to make an assessment of the aid needed to bring immediate relief to the survivors.

More than 11,300 people have died and tens of thousands are believed missing after Storm Daniel hit the northern parts of the country. Many communities throughout the region are left without basic water, shelter and sanitation. Action For Humanity has launched an emergency appeal to support the people of Libya.

This coming Jummuah, Friday 25 August 2023, a Charity called Human Relief Foundation (Charity Reg. NO.: 1126281) is coming to do a collection in Worthing Masjid.

The loss of sight is a frightening prospect for all of us. The routines and activities we took for granted are now hugely difficult, if not impossible tasks. For families where the main source of income has suffered a loss of sight, the outcomes can be beyond devastating – no income, most likely plunged into poverty and an uncertain future.  A major cause of sight loss are cataracts. 

The removal of a cataract is a relatively simple procedure requiring one operation. The clouded lens is removed and replaced with a clear one. For those living in hard to reach areas, where suitable health services are not available, this simple surgery is unobtainable, leading to a lifetime of reduced sight and ultimately, blindness.

We’re working in Bangladesh, to provide simple life changing cataract operations for our brothers and sisters. Our surgery is mobile, ensuring that we can reach out to rural areas and camps that don’t have adequate facilities.

Bayan start: 9.00am
Eid Jamaat: 9.15am

PLEASE NOTE:

1) Make Wudhu at home and bring a prayer mat with you.

2) Park legally and in a manner not to inconvenience others.

3) Please follow instructions and directions given by the Masjid volunteers at all times.

4) Sisters are welcome to attend the Eid salah outside.

5) In case of bad weather, there will be 2 Jamaats at the Masjid:
1st Jamaat: 9.30am.
2nd Jamaat: 10.30am.

May Allah grant joyous and spiritually uplifting days of Eid to Muslims around the world and may he accept the Qurbani (sacrifice) where ever it is being performed. (Ameen)

3) Please ensure that you have paid Sadaqatul Fitr on behalf of yourself and your dependents before the Eid Salah.
Recommended amount: £5 per person.

6) In case of bad weather, there will be 2 Jamaats at Worthing Masjid, Ivy Arch Road, Worthing, BN14 8BX:

MASJID DEVELOPMENT FUND COLLECTION AT WORTHING MASJID ON 21 APRIL 2023.

The monies collected will specifically be designated to our Masjid Development Fund.We have now appointed an architect to help us with the expansion of our existing premises. As we all know, we desperately need more space and better facilities. This expansion is going to need lots of money.
